Update: Select board issues comment on allegations made against Selectmen Jared Chadwick
Following allegations of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old made against Selectmen Jared Chadwick, the Select Board issued the following written statement.
"The allegations are matters for the court to address. Our subjective input does not advance the cause of justice."
Chadwick appeared in court Wednesday, Dec. 10 for a brief pre-trial hearing. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
A Select Board member since 2022, Chadwick was reelected in May. In his campaigns, he has spoken about his support for youth athletics and was president of the Wareham Tigers Athletics Association, a youth sports organization, as recently as 2022.
Chadwick was arraigned July 15 of this year for an incident on Aug. 1, 2020 in which he is accused of groping a pre-teen girl. The second charge involves an incident with another pre-teen girl. Chadwick is accused of striking her buttocks on Jan. 1, 2019.
He is due back in court March 25, 2026.
