Michael Henry Godbout, 67
WAREHAM — Michael Henry Godbout, 67, of West Wareham, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, after a battle with Legionella Pneumonia. He was treated at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River and was surrounded by his family when he passed.
Born in Meriden, Connecticut, Michael found his true home in Wareham, settling there in 1977 and building a life centered on friendship, family, and hard work. A graduate of Orville H. Platt High School Class of 1977, he formed bonds that lasted a lifetime and shaped the steady, kind, and generous man he became.
Michael’s hands were rarely still. As the founder of M.H. Godbout Remodeling, he became a fixture in the community—someone you could count on whenever anything needed mending or improving. The nickname “Mr. Fix-it” suited him perfectly. Whatever was broken, Michael showed up, tools in hand and a smile on his face, always ready to help, never too busy for a neighbor or friend.
He valued community and connection deeply. As a devoted member of the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks, Michael was a familiar face at nearly every gathering he attended. He could always be counted on to support a worthy cause, spending much of his time behind the scenes in the kitchen or wherever he was needed most.
To Michael, nothing mattered more than the people he loved. Some of his happiest moments were spent boating, traveling, and being with his family, creating memories. He was always eager for new adventures, embracing every trip and returning with stories to share. No matter where he went, he loved doing it with his fiancée, Karyn. What Michael loved most was hanging out with friends and family and sharing a quiet afternoon with his father.
Michael is survived by his father, Henry Rene Godbout of West Wareham; his four sons, Michael Godbout of Plymouth, John Godbout of Wareham, Raymond Godbout of New Bedford, and Thomas Godbout of Clinton; his fiancée and devoted partner, Karyn Corcoran of Mattapoisett, who shared many of life’s adventures by his side; and his siblings, Lori Godbout Semple Baker of West Wareham, Lisa Soares of Wareham, and Paula Rotondo of Middleboro. His grandchildren will also remember him: Devyn, Maurice, Vada, Robert, Aubrey, Julian, and Rylee, and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved mother, Evelyn Marie (LaCasse) Godbout; his brother, Ronald Godbout; and his granddaughter, Alyvia Godbout. Their memories remained close to his heart.
Those who knew Michael remember his generous heart, lively humor, and uncanny knack for making things better. His legacy endures in his family, his friends, and a community that will remember him as someone you could count on. He will be missed beyond measure.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks, 2855 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, on January 17, 2026, from 1 pm to 5 pm.
