A dumpster fire off Onset Avenue was reported around 7:24 p.m. Friday, June 20.

The fire occurred behind 205 Onset Avenue where a dumpster was on fire and spread to a nearby fence.

Upon arrival, Onset Fire Department Assistant Chief Howard Andersen said the fire could have spread to the nearby building but it was knocked down quickly preventing severe damage.

Andersen added there was minimal damage to the building and a nearby car.

The fire left the fence burned and partially destroyed and the some of the dumpster’s contents were charred.

Crews remained on scene for three hours to complete the investigation, according to Andersen.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
