Bridge construction to impact traffic on Charge Pond Road
Correction: This article previously stated the construction was on Glen Charlie Road which was incorrect. The construction is on Charge Pond Road.
Construction on Charge Pond Road will temporarily close one lane on the bridge over Route 25 for the next 13 months.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is working to repair the bridge on Charge Pond Road over route 25. The extent of the work includes demolition, steel repairs and reconstruction and the project is being funded by the state.
“The reason why it’s going down to one lane is because [the department of transportation] is building one section at a time so we don’t have a total loss of access,” said Town Administrator Derek Sullivan who announced the lane closure at the Tuesday, Dec. 2 Select Board meeting.
The lane closure began Monday, Dec. 1 and overnight lane closure will begin Sunday, Dec. 7.
Overnight closure will continue through next January with crews working from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning Sunday through Thursday.
Traffic along the bridge will alternate and be regulated by temporary signage.
