The Ashley Faye Foundation and JKA Memorial Scholarship Foundation hosted a trunk or treat event Saturday, Oct. 18 that saw dozens of children dressed as different characters hopping from car to car.
Myrna Amado and Tracy Andrews organized the event and said seeing all the kids dress up was their favorite part of the Halloween season. Amado runs the Ashley Faye Amado Fund and Andrews runs the Jaiden k Andrews Memorial Scholarship.
"Both of our committees came together to give back with a free event to the community in memory of our daughters," Amado said.
Both having lost their daughters, the pair said their goal was to keep their memory alive with events like the trunk or treat. The pair asked for donations of candy from local businesses.
"We got thousands of pieces," said Andrews.
Taliyah Pereia and Anna Brito both dressed up as rapper Soja Boy at the event. Both said their favorite part of Halloween is the candy— but they don't like being scared.
"We dressed up as Soja Boy because he made my favorite song Crank It in the year that I was born," Taliyah said.
As for Cable King who was dressed up as Garfield, his costume was influenced by his dad.
"It just looked cool and my dad has been wanting me to do it," he said.
Although life as a giant Garfield inflatable isn't all it's cracked up to be when you're not getting candy for it.
"I have take this off I'm sweating," he said.
