Jun 12, 2025

Former Wareham Gatemen pitcher Pat Pinkman will be enshrined in Cape Cod League history as one of the six players being named to the league’s hall of fame in 2025.

Pinkman played for the Gatemen in 1999 and 2000 where he posted 12 wins and 4 losses in two seasons.

Pinkman was one of the league’s best in 1999 when he led the league in innings pitched with 74 and strikeouts with 71. During the ‘99 season, Pinkman’s 1.34 earned-run-average earned him  the Outstanding Pitcher award, the award given to the league’s top pitcher as well as an all-star nod and he was named an all-league pitcher.

Pinkman’s Gatemen success continued in college where he was named a freshman All-American and A-10 rookie while at Virginia Tech. There he set several freshman records posting 7 wins, 89 innings pitched, 81 strikeouts, 10 pickoffs and 7 complete games.

As a sophomore, Pinkman set two NCAA Division I records with 19 pickoffs and 9 complete games.

After his playing career was finished, Pinkman served as a pitching coach for several colleges such as Seton Hall, Fordham, Marymount, Washington University in St. Louis and Virginia Tech.

Pinkman also served as the Vice President and lead instructor for the Pinkman Baseball Academy from 2002 to 2011. The Pinkman Baseball Academy is a Virginia based organization dedicated to helping baseball and softball players develop their skills.

Along with Pinkman, five other players will be inducted into the hall of fame. The inductees include Gary Alexander, Nick Gonzales, Travis Jankowski, Bob Stead, and William (Bill) Walker.
