Wareham High students win scholarships for medical studies
Three Wareham High School seniors were awarded scholarships for next school year from the Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarship Committee.
Brooke Halloran will receive $1,000 to study dental medicine at Cape Cod Community College. Halloran's goal is to become a special needs dentist.
McKenna Duggan received a $500 scholarship and plans to study nursing at the University of Tampa. Duggan plans to become a nurse anesthetist.
Trinity Disola also received a $500 scholarship to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst and plans to study occupational therapy, according to the Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarship Committee.
The Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarship was established in 2020 to support students in the fields of medicine. Gleason was a Wareham-based internal medicine physician who died in February 2020 and was "deeply respected by co-workers, colleagues, and patients alike," the scholarship committee wrote in 2020.
