Wareham Fire Department warns of sprinkler recall
The Wareham Fire Department is issuing a notice to the public of a recall on Central Sprinkler Company Fire Sprinkler Heads made from 1975 to 2001 due to potential failure during a fire.
Affected locations could include hospitals, residences, schools/daycares, shops, warehouses and office buildings. The department recommends immediate inspection and to contact the sprinkler company to determine if your system is affected.
Markings on the recalled sprinklers may be identified by "Central," "STAR," "CSG," or a single "G" inside of a triangle.
According to the department, building owners, property managers and maintenance personnel are legally obligated to ensure all fire protection systems are in safe working conditions.
This includes, identifying and replacing all recalled sprinkler heads, complying with NFPA standards and local fire codes for replacement procedures, maintaining documentation of all inspections and replacements for fire safety compliance and contacting Wareham Fire prior to any sprinkler work is to be done.
Failure to act may result in liability and could endanger the lives of occupants. For further assistance, contact the Wareham Fire Department or local fire protection service providers.
