Three considered for superintendent position
Three finalists in the search for a new superintendent of schools have been announced.
Erik Cioffi current Assistant Superintendent of Plymouth Public Schools, Dr. Amy Hartley-Matteson current Assistant Superintendent of Randolph Public Schools and Warley Williams current Principal of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational School are up for consideration.
The Wareham School Committee's Superintendent Search Committee announced the finalists Monday, Nov. 3 after interviewing several candidates to replace current superintendent Matt D’Andrea who is set to retire at the end of this school year..
The search committee is made up of 13 individuals, representing different groups within the community chaired by school committee member Kevin Brogioli.
Cioffi was the principal of Fannin County High School in Blue Ridge, Georgia, from 2005 until 2020. A Massachusetts native, he joined Plymouth Public Schools in the summer of 2020 as Interim Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
Former Principal of Wood Elementary School in Fairhaven, Hartley-Matteson has been Assistant Superintendent for Randolph Public Schools since 2019. She is from Rochester with a Doctoral of Education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
Williams, an alumni of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational School started as Principal in 2021. He is also the former Principal of the Whaling City Alternative School for students with behavioral problems.
Members of the committee will take site visits to each candidate's current school starting Tuesday, Nov. 4 through Thursday, Nov. 6.
From 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Thursday, Nov. 6 those interested in speaking to the candidates can attend a meet and greet in the Wareham High School library at 7 Viking Drive. There will be a meet and greet at the middle school library at 4 Viking Drive on Wednesday, Nov 5 from 2:45 t0 3:45 p.m as well.
The school committee will interview the finalists individually in an open session beginning at 4 p.m. in the Multiservice Center at 48 Marion Road Thursday, Nov. 6 and decide on who the next superintendent will be that evening.
