Take a moment to ‘park’ it at Bay View
Bay View Park is now open. The first phase of the park’s reopening is taking place Monday, June 16. The park is open to the public with a temporary safety barrier along the new widened Onset Avenue sidewalk.
The temporary safety barrier allows the new sidewalk to open along with the rest of the park, but still be safe for pedestrian passage. Though it is open, permanent fencing is still under construction.
Phase two will take place in mid-July. The permanent fencing will then be installed.
Already, the concrete interior sidewalks have been cleaned and are in the process of being sealed, the grass areas have been hydroseeded and are being watered to prepare it for crowds, and railings along the stairs and gazebo are being installed.
The paving has been completed from the South Boulevard entrance into the Onset Pier entrance down to the Stone Bridge.
The changes that have been made, such as removing and replacing sidewalks and walkways, will make the park more accessible and meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards for accessibility.
This project would not have been made possible without the funding from the Community Preservation Act Funding, Community Development Block Grant funding, American Rescue Plan Act funding and the dedication of the town’s Municipal Maintenance team.
Bay View Park plans to host a reopening ceremony to celebrate its updates. Please be on the lookout for updates.
