Shuck yeah! Oyster Fest 2025 draws close

Want a shell of a good time with five local oyster farms, live music and 100's of vendors? Sip & Stroll the Wareham Oyster Festival is Saturday, May 24.

The event will close down a portion of Main Street from Besse Park to Warren's Harborview with its new location this year at Besse Park. The festivities will run from 2  to 6 p.m. 

This year’s festival is under new management. Laurna Brunelle is rebranding the event to include125 vendors, food trucks, area restaurants, drinks, face painting and selfies with mascot Mr. Shucks. Community members attending can enjoy live music from band Full Sircle. Admission is free.

Free Gatra shuttle buses will be running from Town Hall to the event with Link 1 running its normal route passing by the event location and parking location. It will pull into the Town Hall parking lot along its normal route to pick up attendees.

10,000 oysters can be found at the event from local farms. 

Dale Leavitt of Fairhaven is with Blue Stream Shellfish will be serving West Island Oysters, Pam and Josh Reitsma of Wareham are with Crooked River Farm and will be serving Crooked River Oysters.

Bob Field of Mattapoisett with Copper Beech Farm will be serving Copper Beech Oysters, Kimberly and Mike Ward of Mattapoisett Oyster Farm will be serving Mattapoisett Oysters and Seth Garfield of Cuttyhunk with Cuttyhunk Shellfish Farms will be serving Cuttyhunk oysters. 

Organizer Lorna Brunelle said everything is on track for a perfect festival and has hopes for good weather.

"I just need mother nature to eat a snickers that day and everything will be great," she said. "And then together we can appreciate the beauty of Wareham."
