The proposed project is an ecological restoration project (Form 3A, full ecological restoration project Notice of Intent). The project will restore the degraded former cranberry bog into a diverse, more naturally functioning ecosystem with dynamic, connected, and self-sustaining habitats, including a restored stream, wetlands, and sandplain grassland uplands. The restored stream supports Herring migration and salter Brook Trout habitat. the project involves involving temporary erosion and sedimentation controls, temporary staging areas and water control systems, installing stop logs at Bartlett Pond that will remain in place to allow the pond to fluctuate naturally to restore coastal pondshore habitat, daylighting a re-naturalized channel by removing culverts, berms, and consolidating hand dug ditches to the re-naturalized and re-located stream to capture cold water inputs to support trout habitat, installing large wood debris structures to enhance habitat, and remeandering the new channel to improve stream function.
