Janice Ellis

Jul 30, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Janice Ellis announces her passing. Mrs. Ellis passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River Massachusetts on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Mrs. Ellis was the wife of late Kenneth L. Ellis of Haverhill. She was the daughter of her late beloved mother, Dorris A. Pennington.

Mrs. Ellis was born and lived in Wareham her entire life, although she loved to travel to destinations in and out of the country. Mrs. Ellis was a graduate from Wareham High School and she obtained a degree from the Robie School in Boston.

Mrs. Ellis worked for Ocean Spray Cranberries for approximately 25 years, retiring as a Senior Financial Analyst. Although retired, on occasion, she worked in the Sippican Nursing Home’s activities room in Marion. Mrs. Ellis enjoyed spending time with the employees and residents of the nursing home. She often developed great friendships with the residents, bringing them gifts, and always sharing smiles with them.

Mrs. Ellis’ creativity and accomplishments were endless. She was a Real Estate Broker, had her travel agent’s license, had started towards obtaining her aviation license, and started patenting a tool she developed for cat owners. She also spent free time painting, sketching, designing, sewing, and enjoyed spending time working in her yard.

Mrs. Ellis’ love for family and friends was endless. Her happiest moments were spent with friends and family reminiscing, chatting, eating, and laughing. She was fearless and loved living life on the edge — she thought nothing of going to the beach while in the eye of a hurricane.

Like her love for family and friends, Mrs. Ellis’ love for animals was endless. Over the years, she took in numerous strays and adopted both cats and dogs. Her pets provided her with companionship, smiles, and endless love. She loved butterflies.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her daughter, Danielle Ellis-Andrews of San Francisco, CA, her father, Henry B. Pennington of West Wareham, her family, and countless friends.

In honoring Mrs. Ellis’ request, no services will be held. She did ask that we “Tell everyone thank you and I appreciate them all.” In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made to your local pet rescue or a charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Ellis.

Whenever you see a butterfly passing by, please think of Janice.

Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. To share a memory or leave a message of condolence, visit: www.ccgfuneralhome.com.
