Buzzards Bay Coalition watershed ride to cruise through town
Each year, cyclists hop on their bike to ride through cranberry bogs, coast by sandy beaches and raise money for environmental conservation in the Buzzards Bay Coalition Watershed Ride.
The ride is taking place Sunday, Oct. 5 which will have riders taking on one of three overlapping routes of 100, 77 and 41 miles respectively and all go through Wareham. Riders will enter town through Rochester on Fearing Hill Road and make their way to High Street. From there they will take Minot Avenue into Onset before heading straight for Cape Cod.
The 100 mile route starts in Little Compton, Rhode Island, the 77 mile route begins in Westport and the 41 mile route starts in Mattapoisett. All routes end in Falmouth.
Last year, the event raised over $240,000 and this year, the coalition has already raised over $125,000 of their $500,000 goal.
