Building birdhouses around the bogs

Apr 21, 2025

The A.D. Makepeace Company teamed up with the Junior Associates of the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club in Middleboro to build bird houses and learn more about the flying feathered animals.

Charlie Murphy, Junior Associates Advisor, and Gavin Bartlett, Assistant General Manager
of Cranberry Operations at ADM, worked with over 30 Junior Associates and their advisors to build and decorate 45 bluebird boxes and 10 woodcock boxes.

On April, 6 Junior Associates and their advisors installed 10 blue birdboxes around Makepeace bogs and the remaining were placed around Frogfoot Farm, a Marion Institute project in Wareham to donate locally grown food to food pantries.

The Wakinquah Rod and Gun Club is a group of people promoting hunting, fishing and similar activities and their Junior Associates program gives kids the opportunity to learn these sports as well as do community service projects.

The A.D. Makepeace Company is one of the world's largest cranberry growers and owns significant portions of land in several South Coast towns.
