Plant a seed of biodiversity at Frogfoot Farm
To celebrate Earth Day, community members can exercise their green thumbs at the Marion Institutes's fourth annual BioBlitz.
Participants are invited to team up at Frogfoot Farm to identify as many plant, animal and fungal species as possible on Saturday, April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Frogfoot Farm Program Manager Hannah Traggis said the farm is cultivating more than just food — they're cultivating a healthier community and planet.
“The BioBlitz gives us a way to track the diversity of life thriving in our farm ecosystem and celebrate the role biodiversity plays in environmental and public health," she said.
The event is designed to foster a deeper connection with nature and will begin with an orientation at the Box Mill Hall at 146 Tihonet Road in Wareham. After the guided exploration of the farm the event will conclude with a sharing session.
The institute encourages participants to bring a water bottle, outdoor clothing and a smartphone.
