William Oldfield, Jr., 79
ONSET – William Oldfield, Jr., 79, of Onset died Saturday, January 18, 2025 at his home. He was the wife of Deborah Ann (Trucchi) Oldfield. They were married for 55 years.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late William and Charlotte Lorraine (Cole) Oldfield. Mr. Oldfield graduated from Taunton High School, and the New England School of Mechanical Dentistry. A member of the Mass. Army National Guard, Mr. Oldfield was ordered to active duty in 1968 and served in the Vietnam war. He returned a combat veteran and was exposed to Agent Orange during his tour. He was awarded several medals for his service.
Mr. Oldfield was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 611 in Taunton and the DAV Chapter # 57 in Taunton. He also served a treasurer for the Allied Veterans Council of Taunton for many years. He built a beautiful home on Onset, God's beautiful part of the world. He enjoyed duckpin bowling and visiting local casinos.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah of Onset; and his nephews, Kenneth R. Oldfield, Jr. and his wife Maria Alves, and Scott W. Oldfield. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Kenneth R. Oldfield, and his sister in-law, the late Sandra K. Dixon. He is also survived by his dog Rosey.
Graveside services at Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held privately.
