Dollar days

Head over to Trinity Christian Church, 462 Main Street for dollar days deals. A variety of items will be on sale for $1 on the following days:

Thursday, Sept. 11 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 12 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept 13. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Touch-A-Truck

Get ready for D&J's 3rd Annual Touch-A-Truck where all ages can explore, climb on and snap photos with vehicles of all sizes Saturday, Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Big rigs, emergency vehicles, heavy equipment and monster trucks will fill the parking lot at 10 Charge Pond Rd alongside face painting, food trucks and raffles.

Admission is $1 per person or a non-perishable food item — all donations benefit Shane Gives Thanks Food Pantry.

Sunday, Sept. 14

Made in maple

Wooden automobiles will flood the grounds of A.D Makepeace, 158 Tihonet Road Sunday, Sept. 14.

The vehicles, otherwise known as Woodies, will be on display from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event, hosted in conjunction with the Yankee Wood Chapter - National Woodie Club, features classic Woodie cars from the early to mid 20th century.

A.D. Makepeace will be serving treats and is open during the day. The event will include live music. The rain date for the event is Sunday, Sept. 21.

Monday, Sept. 15

A-boat time for a history lesson

The Wareham Historical Society is hosting a program by Tim Martin, Falmouth Genealogical Society President, about an 1873 ship, the W. H. Besse Monday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

The ship was owned by Wm. H. Besse of New Bedford, a relative of Wareham’s Captain Alden Besse, Besse Park's namesake. 

William H. Besse employed Captain Benjamin Clark Baker, whose wife documented their adventures aboard the ship. Their stories will be the focus of Martin's presentation.

The program will be held at the Methodist Meeting House at 495 Main Street in Wareham and is free to Wareham Historical Society members and $2.00 for non-members.

Taste around town

Turning Point of Wareham’s Taste of Our Town fundraiser is returning for the third consecutive year to benefit the nonprofit’s mission of helping people experiencing homelessness across the South Coast.

Restaurants and food trucks from the area will head to the Wareham-new Bedford Elks Lodge at 2855 Cranberry Highway, Monday Sept. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. and dish out samples of what they have to offer.

Tickets for the event will be sold at the door and there will be raffles, a cash bar and live music.
