William F. Gay, III, 59, of Wareham, died Feb. 2 at home. He was the husband of Rhonda L. (Robbins) Gay and the son of the late William F. Gay, Jr. and Vera V. (Gainey) Gay.

He was born in Wareham and lived there all of his life.

Mr. Gay worked as a superintendent for the Onset Water Department and also served as a captain for the Onset Fire Department for many years before retiring.

He loved rock and roll music and enjoyed playing video games.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda L. (Robbins) Gay; two sons, William F. Gay, IV of Buzzards Bay and John P. Robbins of Onset; his daughter, Mindy A. Gay of Onset; nine grandchildren, William F. Gay, V, Liam Gay, Aubrey Gay, Christiana Robbins, Adrien Robbins, Lexi Robbins, Jaren, Jaydyn, and Brooklyn; many nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.
