Wareham Public Schools first day will be Aug. 27

The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Aug. 27. Preschoolers and kindergartners will return on Sept. 8.

Wareham Public Schools Superintendent Amy Hartley-Matteson said parents and families should stay updated with the events calendar on the district’s website, which has beginning-of-the-year activities.

These include Wareham Middle School’s Fifth Grade and New Student Find Your Classroom Night at 5 p.m., as well as Staff in Service Day on Aug. 25 that will welcome back the district’s teachers and staff.

Hartley-Matteson said the district is almost fully staffed this year, and new teachers have already had their orientation for the upcoming school year.

“We’re right into the work,” Hartley-Matteson said. “We only have 180 days with the students. We want to make every single one of those days count, so we’re really all about focusing on the work and student achievement.”
