Three displaced in Standish Avenue fire

A fire at 34 Standish Ave. gutted a house and displaced three adults on Tuesday, March 7. 

The Wareham and Onset Fire Departments, the Wareham Police Department and Wareham EMS arrived on the scene at around 10:55 a.m., according to a Fire Department Facebook post.

By the time they arrived, all of the occupants had escaped safely. 

The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is still unknown. 

The Marion Fire Department took over the Main Street Fire Station, handling another call as 21 Wareham firefighters contained the blaze on Standish Avenue.

According to Captain Micky Bird, who helped staff Engine 1 during the fire, the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
