Don't fear the cold
Join the Wareham Land Trust for their inaugural Tuesday trail day Dec. 30 to maintain the trails at the Fearing Hill Preserve. Volunteers will help trim back overgrown trails and clean up a stone wall.
The trail day will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and parking will be available on Fearing Hill Road off the pavement half-a-mile south of Main Street. The land trust will meet participants in the Fearing Hill Preserve parking area. Tools will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own.
The land trust also advises bringing work gloves, water and proper attire for the weather. Registration is required, visit warehamlandtrust.org to register.
Wednesday, Dec. 31
Noon year's eve
This New Years the ball drop will be celebrated at 12 p.m. DJ Ooch will be bringing a dance party to the library long before the clock strikes midnight, Wednesday, Dec. 31 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road.
With games and crafts, the library will be having fun until the countdown to noontime with a special balloon drop. The event is free and no registration required.
Thursday, Jan. 1
New year new hike
Join the Wareham Land Trust on Thursday, Jan. 1 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. as part of First Day Hikes Cape Cod at Bryant Farm, Golf Shots Parking Lot, 123 Sandwich Road.
This guided hike will lead guests along the forest paths of Bryant Farm, with a chance to catch signs of winter wildlife.
The route is approximately one mile with gently rolling terrain. Some uneven ground is expected, so feel free to bring a walking stick.
This program is free and open to all, warm layers and water are recommended.
