Robert E. Oden, Sr., 77, of Onset, died Oct. 11 in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford.  He was the husband of Roberta M. (Monteiro) Oden and the son of the late Mary E. Kinsey. 

He was born in New Bern, NC and lived in Onset for most of his life. 

Mr. Oden was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Oden worked as a union laborer for Local 721 for many years. He later worked for Tobey Hospital.

He enjoyed being with his family, barbecuing, cooking and entertaining. 

Survivors include his wife, Roberta M. (Monteiro) Oden; 3 sons, Robert E. Oden, Jr. and his wife Christine of Fairhaven, Randy P. Oden and his wife Stephanie of Sugarhill, GA and Reggie J. Oden of San Ramon, CA; 3 daughters, Rena M. Andrews and her husband Glenn of Hiram, GA, Rae Anne Oden and her husband Keith Washington of North Attleboro and Rachel A. Mitchell and her husband Raymous of Chicago; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph and Samuel Oden and Jesadine Yates.

His services will be private.
