Wareham preschoolers get a sunny graduation sendoff
On a drizzly Friday morning, Wareham Elementary School's preschool class brought in some sunshine as it waved goodbye to preschool and hello to kindergarten on Friday, June 26.
Dressed in yellow and rockin' shades, a nod to upcoming summer season, students sang "moving up songs" to a crowd of family members and supporters to mark the exit from their preschool years.
Teacher Nicole Roberge said that the graduation's theme was "all things happiness." The room was literally decorated with sunshine and rainbows as the class of 2039 walked the stage to receive graduation medals.
Some students can be in the preschool program for as many as three years. Non-graduating preschool students attended Friday's ceremony and cheered on their classmates. Teachers said students look forward to the graduation ceremony each year.
"I think they're really proud of the work that they've done," Roberge said.
Owens said the preschool staff works hard to get students ready for graduation, noting how many students have built up their language skills through their time in the program.
As part of the ceremony, graduates sang "Mr. Sun" and the "Thank You Song" for those to helped them get to the end of preschool.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone," students sang.
