November Scotty Award winners announced

Minot Forest Elementary School and Wareham Middle School have announced their Scotty Monteiro Jr. Award winners for November.

Ava Ryan was Minot Forest Elementary’s Scotty Award recipient. The school described Ava as “sweet, kind and funny” and “helpful, compassionate and genuine.”

“She tries her best and goes above and beyond to get all her work done and is excited to learn,” the school said. “She has also started a reading group to further her reading comprehension.”

At the Middle School, Abigail Eldredge won the November Scotty Award. Abigail was described as a hard worker who “goes above and beyond” to improve.  

“Abigail is friendly and positive and always the first one to offer to help her classmates and teachers,” the school said. “She exemplifies a student that is responsible, respectful and thoughtful in all that she does!”

The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation’s cause is “Stopping the Violence” through education and awareness and rewarding excellent students.

The foundation honors the memory of Scotty Monteiro, Jr., an Onset native and Wareham High School graduate who was killed in 2009 when he attempted to stop a robbery at a party.
