New deli and sandwich shop proposed for Onset Avenue
A new restaurant called the Deli at Onset Bay serving old-school style sandwiches has been proposed to move into the storefront on Onset Avenue previously occupied by Cape Cod Lobster Rolls.
The proposed deli’s owner Jean Sullivan and manager Josh Silverberg went in front of the Select Board at their Tuesday, Jan. 20 meeting to get their restaurant and alcohol licenses approved, which the board did.
The restaurant does not have an opening date yet and Sullivan said she plans on serving lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in an “upscale deli.”
“I want to bring back the old delis we used to have,” Sullivan told the board. “My chef does his own pastrami and corned beef for reubens. We’ll have pile-high sandwiches.”
Sullivan, a West Wareham resident, said the restaurant will not do any live entertainment and this is not her first venture into the restaurant world. She owned a restaurant in Cohasset which closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I’m glad we found Onset and I hope the community loves it,” she said.
