Friendly bet benefits Don’t Trash Wareham

Sep 30, 2020

Don’t Trash Wareham was the true beneficiary of a friendly bet between the Wareham Fire Department and A.D. Makepeace.

Makepeace had been hosting monthly blood drives.

In July, the fire department bet the company that the firefighters could recruit more donors. The winner would get to choose the recipient of the $100 bounty.

The fire department won and chose Don’t Trash Wareham — and matched Makepeace’s $100 contribution.

The firefighters have long supported the clean-up effort by making sure their section of Marion Road sparkles each spring.

Nora Bicki, one of Don't Trash Wareham's founding members, said the group was grateful for the funding which will fund supplies for schools and other groups to use in their clean-up of the town’s streets, beaches, parks, and playgrounds.
