Fresh air, sunshine, and a brand new park
Event Date:
The Bay View Park reopening, that’s a walk in the park and soon anyone can take one. This summer, the physical reopening of Bay View Park is being done in two phases.
The first phase will take place on June 16. During this phase, the park will be open to the public with a temporary safety barrier along the new widened Onset Avenue sidewalk. This will allow the sidewalk to open along with the rest of the park but still be safe for pedestrian passage. Permanent fencing is still under construction.
Phase two will take place in mid-July. At this time, the permanent fencing will be installed.
Already, the concrete interior sidewalks have been cleaned and are in the process of being sealed, the grass areas have been hydroseeded and are being watered to prepare it for crowds, and railings along the stairs and gazebo are being installed. Within the next two weeks, paving will be completed from the South Boulevard entrance into the Onset Pier entrance down to the Stone Bridge.
A temporary barrier will be placed along Onset Ave while anticipating fencing construction and installation.
This project would not have been made possible without the funding from the Community Preservation Act Funding, Community Development Block Grant funding, American Rescue Plan Act funding and the dedication of the town’s Municipal Maintenance team.
With so much to celebrate, Bay View Park plans to host a reopening ceremony.
