Family fun at the library links
The golf season opened up for two days at the Wareham Free Library as Warehamites put down the books and picked up a putter to make their way around the library's mini golf course.
The library's mini golf course included 18 holes in various parts of the library on Friday Dec. 27, and Saturday, Dec. 28, and Library Director Patrick Marshall said this was their third annual mini golf event.
"It's a fun family event and you see people of all ages from young kids to grandparents," said Marshall. "It gives people a chance to see areas of the library they may not normally see."
The mini golf course was set up by Dartmouth resident Russ Bolton who has made a living travelling the country, setting up mini golf courses in libraries.
"This is fantastic because there is almost no physical activity that an elderly person can do with their grandchild," said Bolton.
He added that he sees grandparents and young kids alike have fun playing mini golf.
"Grandparents will say 'I haven't played mini golf since I was a kid' and they're able to do it with their grandchildren and the kids go 'grandpa watch this shot' every time so it's just a lot of fun," said Bolton.
Wareham resident Nancy Latham was playing mini golf with her grandchildren Charlie and Abby Farnham and she said it means a lot to be able to spend time with her grandkids.
"I love it, I enjoy it very much and my grandkids are having a good time too," said Latham.
