An East Wareham man will be summoned into court after accidentally firing a gun in his home and striking a neighboring house with the bullet which pierced through a wall and landed on a bed.

The incident, during which no one was injured, took place on Thursday night at around 7:15 p.m. on Quaker Road.

Investigators determined that a neighbor, identified as Christopher Poirier 50, had fired a gun in his residence. Poirier told officers that he had accidentally pulled the trigger while looking at the gun, police said.

Poirier is being summoned to Wareham District Court for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a firearm without a Firearms Identification Card, and reckless endangerment of a child.
