With Santa slated to slide down chimneys soon, the Wareham Parent Teacher Association brought the holiday spirit early during their annual Christmas fair and fundraiser.

The fair took place at the Wareham Elementary School Saturday, Dec. 14 and Lauren Spring, the president of the parent teacher association said the event featured local vendors selling holiday goods, festive food, games, live performances and an appearance with the one and only Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Spring, said each year they put this on, they try and make it fun for the kids. All the food is cooked in the cafeteria named "Mrs. Claus Kitchen" for the day and the kids can play "reindeer" games.

The fair also serves as the parent teacher association's largest fundraising effort according to Spring.

"It all goes back to the school," said Spring. "It raises money for field trips, busses or it's for field days or other school events."

Sean Preston has three kids in the elementary school and was at the event to support the school and to have a fun day with the kids.

His daughter Annaelise Preston, 7, got a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and she said that even though it was short, her favorite part was getting candy after the picture.

Nicole Knault is a kindergarten teacher at the elementary school and volunteered her time to help run the games.

"The kids have som much fun and the kids love seeing their teachers in elf costumes," said Knault.
