Benjamin F. Bumpus, Jr., 78

Benjamin F. Bumpus, Jr., 78, of Wareham, died Oct. 22, 2020, at home. He was the husband of 52 years of Shirley A. (Greeley) Bumpus and the son of the late Benjamin F. Bumpus, Sr. and Rose (Campbell) Bumpus.

He was born in Wareham and lived there his whole life. He attended Wareham High School and graduated from Fisher Junior College. 

Mr. Bumpus served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

Mr. Bumpus worked as an Oil Terminal Associate for Esco Terminal Power Plant in Sandwich for 40 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks.  He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He was a guitarist and always had the latest electronics and music devices. Some of his favorite things were driving his antique cars in parades and hosting the family 4th of July celebration.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. (Greeley) Bumpus; a son, Benjamin F. Bumpus and his wife Kelly of Weare, NH; a daughter, Diana DeMatteo and her husband Lee of Wareham; a grandson, Joshua Enloe; several nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. He was the brother of the late Bruce Bumpus and Evelyn Moos.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 462 Main St., Wareham, followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. His burial will be private.
