Alfred J. Lofgren, 80

Alfred J. Lofgren, 80, of Raynham, formerly of Plymouth, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022.  He was the husband of Carol J. (Tibbo) Lofgren.

Born in Boston, Mr. Lofgren was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Toner) Lofgren. He was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Charlestown High School.  Mr. Lofgren worked as a lineman for New England Telephone for many years and retired in 1991. He was also a member of IBEW Local # 103 in Boston.

Mr. Lofgren served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a sergeant with the 809th Security Police Squadron.

He enjoyed saltwater fishing at Duxbury Beach and the Cape Cod Canal, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved steak and beans on a Saturday night, and making a big Sunday breakfast for whoever showed up.

Survivors include his wife, Carol J. Lofgren of Raynham; his children, Ingrid Lofgren of New Bedford, Dana Lofgren of W. Wareham, Kristin Goggin of Dedham; his stepchildren, David Johnson of E. Bridgewater, Michelle Johnson of Raynham, Patricia Venckauskas of Yarmouth, and Daryl Johnson of Huron, MI; his siblings, Nancy McDonald of Sandwich, Thomas Lofgren of Holbrook, Mary Theresa Mariano of E. Bridgewater, Mary Joan Lofgren of Milton, and Gerald Lofgren of Holbrook. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren that he loved and adored, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, the late Robert Lofgren, John Lofgren, Betty Ann LeCount, Kathleen Cameron, Geraldine Noonan and Peter Lofgren.

His funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Fri., May 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.  Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
