Letter to the Editor: Wareham deserves better
Wareham, today, is faced with a multitude of unprecedented challenges. Whether it’s rising costs, struggling schools, budget shortfalls, or unregulated solar projects, there is plenty of work to be done for our state legislators. Yet, as issues mount here in Wareham, our State Representative — John Gaskey — spent last week on an amendment going after transgender teenagers.
In fact, in less than four months in office, Rep. Gaskey has found the time to sponsor four separate bills targeting the LGBT community but has not sponsored a single piece of legislation to help lower costs,
improve education, or address any of the dozen very real problems affecting our community.
State representatives have a serious job of representing the communities they are elected to serve, yet in the six months since the election, Rep. Gaskey has repeatedly proven himself to be more interested in his own ideological agenda.
Wareham doesn’t need leaders that spend their days talking about nonsense issues while trying to make life more difficult for our LGBT neighbors. The people of Wareham know firsthand that there are serious problems out there and we need serious people to solve them.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think our community deserves better than what we’ve been getting from John Gaskey.
