Turning Point finds a new home
Turning Point of Wareham will soon have a new home at the American Legion Building at 777 Main St.
For the last three years the organization, which assists homeless people and those facing homelessness, has been headquartered near Wareham Middle School on Viking Drive. By next week the organization will have finished moving out of the McDuffy building and into its new space.
Turning Point President Chuck McCullough said the move is due to the Wareham School District repurposing the McDuffy building.
“We have to move but we’re very appreciative of the time we had there and thank the school system for allowing us to be there for three years,” McCullough said.
The American Legion will continue to use the building. McCullough said it is large enough to provide an equivalent amount of office space as the McDuffy building.
However, the new building is lacking in storage space. McCullough said Turning Point will have to rent a large storage unit to house excess sleeping bags, diapers, tarps and tents.
The storage unit will also store gifts that are used as part of the Holiday Magic Program, which provides toys to families in need during the holiday season.
The Turning Point sign will be installed on the new building some time next week.
