Barry L. Coggeshall of Wareham, MA passed away after a long illness on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the age of 78. Born in Wareham, and a lifelong resident, he was the son of Carlton & Hazel (Pierce) Coggeshall.
Barry worked as a welder and mechanic for over 40 years at Hayden Manufacturing in West Wareham and loved the cranberry business. He was a proud Navy Veteran and served from 1965 to 1969. He was member of the Elks for many years and provided janitorial services on the weekends. He made it a point to be involved in his children’s lives by helping coach and umpire in their little leagues. Barry enjoyed grilling, seeing himself as a “connoisseur” and enjoyed playing golf during his free time.
Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Joan (Masterson) Coggeshall. He is also survived by his children: daughter Ellen Muir and her husband David of West Wareham, son Kenneth Coggeshall of Wareham, daughter Heather Fluegel of Mattapoisett, son Robert Coggeshall and his wife Christine of Bridgewater, his stepchild Dawn Beard and her partner Daniel Perry of Marion; and his loving sister Elaine Gonsalves of Wareham. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter Wendy Munroe of Sagamore.
A visitation will be held at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wednesday, December 18 from 10:00 am - 11:15 am, immediately followed by a memorial service. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
