Women arrested for allegedly assaulting officers

Three women have allegedly assaulted Wareham Police officers in the past week.

On Wednesday, January 19, a Wareham woman was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. Police received a call about a suspicious woman on Main Street, whom Special Officer Dennis Damata found near the pump house on Merchants Way. As Damata approached the woman, she allegedly fled onto the train tracks and began to kick and punch the officer. Other officers arrived and eventually secured her. 

The woman was charged with four counts of assault and battery on a police officer, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, walking on a railroad track, and resisting arrest. 

On Sunday, February 2, police responded to a report of a woman making suicidal statements at about 9:45 a.m.
Police found the woman at her home, where she was initially cooperated before suddenly attempting to shut a door on Officers Calib Larue and Jennifer Braley. 

Larue put his foot and arm in the door and the woman continued to push the door shut. Officers were able to push their way in, and handcuffed the woman after a brief struggle. The woman was brought to Tobey Hospital for an evaluation, while Officer Larue was treated and released with minor injuries, returning to duty. The female is being summoned to Wareham District Court for assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and assault and battery on a police officer. 

At about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to Tobey Hospital for a report of a disturbance. A Plymouth woman was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. Before her arrest, there was a struggle, and the woman kicked two officers, who subdued her with a Taser. No officers were seriously injured.
