William L. Byrd, Sr., 99
WAREHAM – William L. Byrd, Sr., 99, of Wareham passed away at home on November 20, 2025. He was the son of the late Mattie Tynes.
He was born in Rectortown, VA and lived in Wareham for over 50 years.
Mr. Byrd served in the United States Air Force for over 21 years, retiring in 1966. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. After retiring, he worked as a head supervisor for the Base Exchange at Otis Air Force Base for several years.
Mr. Byrd was very faithful and a man of God. He was a member of the Bay Community Alliance Church in Buzzards Bay.
Survivors include his children, Alicia Byrd of Baltimore, MD, Tom Byrd of Lexington, Rodney Byrd of Boston, Harold Byrd of CA and William Byrd, Jr. and his wife, Myla Earle-Byrd of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Christopher Rose and his wife, Jessica Watman, Alexis Rose, Eric Rose, Aubrey Byrd, William L. Byrd, III, Sophia Murphy, Tyler Brown, Marcus Byrd, Olivia Byrd, James Byrd, Raquim and his wife, Renee Marquez-Byrd and Sheena Adams; 6 great grandchildren, Oaklee Rose, Southern Rose, Eric Rose, Jr., Bella Rose, Derez Rose, Genevieve-Alisse Lopes, Jalisa Byrd and Karina Robson.
Visiting hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
