Wild night at the Halloween Spooktacular party

Oct 25, 2019

The YMCA Gleason Family held its Annual Halloween Spooktacular party on the night of Oct. 25 and this year, it was wilder than ever.

With its Jungle Safari theme, the party featured a bouncy house, treasure hunt, wall climbing, games, Big Wheel racing, selfie stations, and animal pose yoga.

“We have done a pirate theme last year. I thought, why don't we change it up this time and do a Jungle Safari. It was fun to plan it and it took us one week to decorate,” said special events coordinator Cathy Longfield. “Every kid that comes here gets a children’s book.”

Kids and parents enjoyed the party while showing off their costumes.

“This is my favorite holiday because I like to dress up like a red Power Ranger and my sister likes to be a princess,” said seven-year-old Jason Brown.

While kids could be easily lost in crowded Y’s halls, many parents said they were happy their children were meeting new friends.

“I am trying to keep an eye on [her son]. It’s kind of crazy here but in a good way. So many good kids that he can meet,” said mother Emily Green.
