Wareham woman selected to join Copley Society of Art

Jan 13, 2019

The Copley Society of Art welcomed 21 new members to their ranks this year, including Wareham artist Carol Caradimos.

The Copley Society of Art is America’s oldest non-profit arts organization, committed to the advancement, enjoyment and promotion of its member artists and the visual arts. Founded in 1879, the organization is comprised of juried artists who are selected by a credentialed art committee.

The Membership Committee of the Copley Society of Art meets throughout the year to review the applications for new members and assesses each applicant on the strength of their body of work. Only those who are deemed “truly outstanding” are allowed to join.

Caradimos, who works largely in pastels, said that her goal is to learn about life and humanity through painting as she believes that art reflects larger themes of human nature.

Caradimos’ work is currently on display at the Copley Society of Art’s New Members Show in the Upper Gallery, located at 158 Newbury Street in Boston. The New Members Show will be on display until Feb. 17.
