Megan Tumlin of Wareham and student at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was recently elected into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Tumlin is one of 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be elected this year. To join, an individual must be nominated by their local chapter and the organization will choose who to invite into the honor society.

According to the organization, only the top 10% of college seniors and 7.5% of college juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 by Marcus L. Urann to "cultivate a community that celebrates and advances the love of learning," according to Alyssa Papa, Director of Communications for Phi Kappa Phi.
