Wareham man charged with sixth DUI after arrest in Braintree

Jan 11, 2019

Police arrested a 55-year-old Wareham man on a sixth DUI charge after he was pulled over in Braintree on Jan. 9.

Stephen Boardman was arraigned in Quincy District Court and released on $2,500 bail later that day. Boardman’s next court date is set for Jan. 25.

According to police, a Braintree police officer saw Boardman sitting in his vehicle with the engine on in an empty parking lot just after midnight. After seeing the officer, police say Boardman drove away with his truck’s bumper dragging on the ground.

Boardman was then pulled over and the responding officer reported smelling alcohol. Boardman also was reportedly covered in glass from a broken driver’s side window and was slurring his words.

Police arrested Boardman after he declined to take a field sobriety test.
