Turning Point launches holiday toy, food drive

Nov 3, 2020

Turning Point and the Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless are launching their holiday program to bring a holiday meal, toys, clothing, and gifts to as many children and families in need as possible -- and they are looking for donors and volunteers to make the magic happen.

Each year, families in need apply for help with proof of need and their children’s wish lists.
As many children as possible are matched up with a sponsor who shops for the essentials on the child’s list.

There are more children than sponsors, so community food and toy drives fill in the gaps.

Volunteers are needed to sort, organize, pack, and deliver holiday packages. Donors can contribute by sponsoring a family or child, donating food items or gift cards, or making a financial donation to the program. The gift cards most needed include movies, books, pizza, Amazon, iTunes, teen clothing stores, and grocery stores.

Donations can be dropped off at the East Wareham School, 27 Depot Street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning November 10 and until December 15. (Closed November 24 and 26.)

Masks are required and covid-19 safety guidelines will be followed.

Donations can be mailed to WACH Special Programs, P.O. Box 486, Wareham, MA 02571.
