Tigers Cheer Team works to raise funds for upcoming championship

Jan 14, 2022

The Wareham Tigers Cheer Athletics team — PRIDE — is looking for help raising funds to attend the Recreational Championship in Walt Disney World this March.

The 18U team earned a spot at the championship by winning first place and Grand Champion status at a local competition. For the team and staff to attend the event, costs including flights and accommodations will total about $35,000.

The team has received a $5,000 challenge grant from the A.D. Makepeace Company which will match other donations dollar-for-dollar.

“Our board has created an amazing fundraising committee that has diligently reached out to several local businesses and individuals for donations,” said Tigers Cheer Coordinator Damon Solomon.  “The A.D. Makepeace Company has really stepped up to support our organization with this challenge grant and we couldn’t be more excited.”

Several other fundraising events are planned.

On Jan. 18, a portion of the proceeds from each shake sold at Good Life Nutrition at 170 Main St. between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. will go to the team.

The team will also receive the proceeds from the Parrot Bar & Grille’s meat raffle at 3 p.m. on Feb, 6 at 1356 MA-28A, Cataumet.

On Feb. 19, the team will host a cornhole tournament and raffle at Stone Path Malt, 11 Kendrick Rd., starting at 12:30 p.m.

Can and bottle drives are planned to be held in front of the Wareham Fire Station on Main St. and the Walmart on Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 26 and March 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
