Things to do: Christmas cheer, baking and a Celtic harpist

There’s always something to do in Wareham. Ring in the holiday season early with a weekend of Christmas festivities, then cool down with a pair of evening events hosted by the Wareham Free Library.

Friday, Dec. 1

Holiday hardcovers
Stock up on your winter reading at the last Friends of the Wareham Library book sale until the spring.
The Friends will hold the book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, and from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Friends will also hold its annual holiday fair during the Saturday timeslot.
The book sale will take place at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road, Wareham.

Meat your dinner
Redmen Hall will host its monthly meat raffle at 745 Main Street. Doors open at 6 p.m., a meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the raffles start at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 2

Fairs and festivities
Wareham will play host to multiple holiday fairs, toy donation opportunities and a parade this coming Saturday. For more, see a detailed listing on page 3.

Monday, Dec. 4

Solstice strings
Celebrate the solstice season in song, poetry and music with the Wareham Free Library.
Anie Minogue, a Celtic harpist, will perform in the meeting room of the Wareham Free Library on Monday, Dec. 4. It will take place at the library’s Wareham branch, 59 Marion Rd, Wareham.
The program is free and no registration is required. Doors to the concert will open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

Tasty treats
Join Chef Erin Jeanne McDowell for some holiday baking in a virtual program at 7 p.m. The program is presented by the Wareham Free Library.
McDowell will demonstrate how to make one of her favorite recipes and participate in a question and answer with attendees.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

Help support Shop with a Cop
Looking to go out for dinner the first week of December? Consider heading to El Mariachi on Wednesday.
From 4 p.m. to close all sales will go to the Wareham Police Association in support of its Shop with a Cop event in which children have an opportunity to pick out holiday gifts with an officer.

Ha-ha-namaste
Doug Savage will hold classes in laughter yoga, the practice of using controlled laughter to improve physical and mental wellness, at the First Congregational Church of Wareham, 11 Gibbs Ave. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
