A sweet donation from the Elks Lodge
Jan 05, 2026
With just $2 and two scoops of ice cream, the Wareham New Bedford Elks Lodge is helping provide families with kids fighting cancer a vacation.
Kathy Herbert, member of the lodge, raised $1,500 toward Tommy's Place, a vacation rental in Falmouth and Centerville for kids battling cancer. The lodge matched Herbert's donation for a total of $3,000.
Tommy's Place sees families on a lottery-based system for a free one week vacation. Guests ages three to 17-years-old are actively being treated for pediatric cancer and living permanently and full-time in New England.
