A shell of a time with BaysGiving
Thanksgiving dinner doesn't have to just be turkey, it can be quahogs too.
The Onset Bay Center will be hosting BaysGiving, a shellfishing and quahog boil for Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 20.
From 3 to 5 p.m. participants will take a boat to Burgess Point and learn how to shellfish for quahogs. Following the harvest, shellfishers will head back to the center to learn how to prepare their catch from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Guests will serve Wareham Council on Aging with their catches as well as enjoy the quahogs from outings harvest.
The event is free and open to all participants aged 13 and up. All equipment is provided but comfortable and warm layers are recommended.
Participants will have the opportunity to wear waders when they enter the water or go in without and will be guided through the activities by Onset Bay Center staff. Wareham Department of Natural Resources and Harbormaster will be onsite to help guide the program and share insight into local shellfishing rules and regulations.
