Julian Garcia has been named the Scotty Monteiro Jr. award-winner for September at the Wareham Middle School. 

School officials describe Garcia as a thoughtful and caring young man who warmly greets those he meets throughout the day, offers support to his peers, and accepts people for who they are.

Garcia takes pride in his work, and is always striving to do better.

The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation’s cause is “Stopping the Violence” through education and awareness and rewarding excellent students.

The foundation honors the memory of Scotty Monteiro, Jr., an Onset native and Wareham High School graduate who was killed in 2009 when he attempted to stop a robbery at a party.
