An unknown person reportedly fired multiple shots at a Wareham police officer at TownePlace Suites by Marriot - Rosebrook Place on the evening of Friday, Aug. 23.

It is not yet known what caused this incident or who was involved, but according to the Wareham Police Department “an active police investigation is ongoing.” The department added that the “suspect is in custody and there is no immediate danger to the community.”

It’s also unknown if the officer involved in the shooting was hit or injured by the suspect.

Massachusetts State Police referred questions to the Wareham Police Department, who have not yet responded to requests for comment. 

There was no visible evidence of a crime scene around the hotel as of Saturday afternoon.
