Recycling Center welcomes back customers with new safety procedures

Sep 18, 2020

Wareham’s Recycling Center has been back open since August 1, with new safety procedures -- but Recycling Coordinator Marilyn Russell said there haven’t been too many customers.

The center, located on Plymouth Road off Maple Springs Road, is open from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. It was closed for about four months due to coronavirus safety concerns.

Masks are required, as is social distancing, which Russell said is easy to maintain at the all-outdoor center.

The center’s book barn and swap shed are open, with quarantine procedures in place for items dropped off. Any new books or items for the swap shed are put into a quarantine for two weeks.

“Volunteers are always appreciated and needed,” Russell said.

At the Recycling Center, volunteers help direct customers and answer any questions they may have.

Russell said that the center is also accepting returnable bottles and cans as donations to help fund the center.

Those with questions, or who are interested in volunteering, should call 508-291-6520.
